3. Claude Debussy's Préludes are 24 pieces for solo piano, divided into two books of 12 preludes each. Unlike some notable collections of preludes from prior times, such as Chopin's Op. 28, or the preludes from Johann Sebastian Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Debussy's do not follow a strict pattern of key signatures.. Each book was written in a matter of months, at an unusually fast pace for Debussy.

4. 5 stars for the music - a creative and engaging interpretation of the preludes. 1 star for the vinyl pressing - too much surface noise and too many ticks, pops and clicks for a solo piano record especially on disc 2. Disc 1 actually sounds pretty good. That being said, the piano has a warmer and darker tone on the lp /5(6).
